Since the start of the Celebration Tour on October 14, 2023, Madonna has not included ‘Express Yourself’ in the setlist, but everything changed at a show in Boston
Currently in the North American part of Celebration Tour, Madonna added something new to the setlist: “Express Yourself,” a song released in 1989 that was never played on the current tour. It’s worth remembering how the series of shows celebrates 40 years of the legendary pop artist’s career.
It is worth remembering how the tour started on October 14, 2023, while the last performance scheduled to date is on April 24, 2024, in Mexico City. During a show at TD Gardenin Boston, United States, the artist presented a version of “Express Yourself” acoustic, as part of the fifth act.
Before singing the song, Madonna raised a bottle of beer to the audience and stated how he “started 2024 with gratitude and appreciation.” So, she took a drink and picked up a guitar. Then, she thanked her “beautiful, talented, intelligent children [e] stubborn” who are with her in Celebration Tour.
“I’m so grateful because although they may need me as a mother, I must admit that I need them. And I need you, and we need each other. Because family isn’t just what you’re born into. Family is the family you creates,” said the artist (via NME).
After the speech, she sang a verse of “This Little Light of Mine” to deliver “Express Yourself,” present in Like a Prayerfourth studio album by Madonna. Watch below:
