Warner Music launches Continental record label’s country music collection

When the Continental Warner Music Brasil was formed in 1993, the multinational took on a great responsibility: to preserve and promote much of the history of Brazilian music, especially country music.

At the height of the recording industry the transition from LP to CD was made, but the complete digitization of the collection for streaming had not yet occurred. In order to save the past and perpetuate the legacy of looking at national diversity, the WarnerMusic launches a new and important project this year. Titled Continental 80 yearsthe record label will complete the discography of major country artists and other regional genres.

With weekly releases the duo Chico Rey and Paraná makes five successful volumes available on digital platforms.

Created in 1943, the record label Continental they operated outside of multinationals. Now, Warner wants to shed light on its rich collection, from the days of Continental – which had not yet been digitized. The volumes are now available on the platforms 3 (1983), 4 (1985), 5 (1987), 6 (1989) e 7 (1991) by the brothers Chico Rey and Paraná. The project also recovers the catalog of other regional artists, like the album In Spanish (2001) by Daniel and the LPs of Anastácia sings for North East (1967) e 30 years of Forró (1985), with the participation of Gilberto Gil AND Belchiore.
