‘Technology Giants’ begin to adopt new EU rules
O Woman’s Day, celebrated on March 8, has its origins in 1917. Thus, on this date, around 90 thousand Russian workers took to the streets to demand better working and living conditions. Furthermore, they demonstrated against the tsar Nicholas II. This event became known as “Bread and Peace”. In this way, the day was established when Russian women gained the right to vote.
The idea of a celebration dedicated to women arose in 1908, when around 1500 female people joined together in a demonstration in favor of economic and political equality in USA. Thus, in 1909, the US Socialist Party made official the National Women’s Day on February 28th. Another milestone for the establishment of Women’s Day was a fire that happened in New York.
The fire happened in Triangle Shirtwaist Company and killed 146 people, 125 women and 21 men. From that, the Woman’s Day began to be celebrated and celebrated. However, it is worth highlighting the daily struggle of all of them for equal conditions, respect and education. Based on this daily task, we have brought a list of women who played an important role in the history of technology.

WOMEN’S DAY: EDITH RANZINI
Edith Ranzini is an engineer whose talent and dedication were fundamental in the team responsible for creating the first Brazilian computer, Patinho Feio, in 1972. Thus, during her master’s degree at the Polytechnic School of the University of São Paulo (Poli) and her participation in the Systems Laboratory Digital (LSD), she played a crucial role in developing the Ugly Duckling’s memory
In addition to her pioneering contribution, Ranzini is recognized as an outstanding professor at Poli and at the Pontifical Catholic University (PUC) of São Paulo. There, she continues to influence and inspire future generations of female engineers. Her work in the areas of artificial intelligence, computer engineering, neural networks and graphics systems is an inspiring example of female excellence.
ANNIE EASLEY
Annie Easley was a noted computer scientist, mathematician and rocket scientist. Her work at NASA made her one of the first black women to hold a leadership role at the agency. As director of the Centaur software development team, she played a crucial role in the process of propelling rockets and satellites into space.
Furthermore, its involvement in solar and wind energy projects, as well as research into the useful life of storage batteries, demonstrates a commitment to innovation and technological progress. In this way, Easley’s legacy continues to inspire women and minorities to pursue careers in STEM and push boundaries.

WOMEN’S DAY: SINHÁ MOREIRA
Luzia Rennó Moreira, affectionately known as Sinhá Moreira, left a lasting legacy as a pioneer of technical education in Brazil. As the founder of the first secondary technical school in Latin America, in Santa Rita do Sapucaí (MG), she opened doors for technological development in the region, which is today recognized as the Electronics Valley.
GRACE HOPPER
Grace Hopper was a visionary U.S. Navy admiral and systems analyst whose pioneering work left a lasting legacy in the field of computing. As a member of the team that developed the UNIVAC I, the first commercial computer manufactured in the USA, she played a pivotal role in the history of modern computing. The legacy continues to inspire women around the world.
HEDY LAMARR
Hedy Lamarr was a multifaceted figure whose contributions to film and technology made her a true pioneer in her field. In addition to her notable career as a Hollywood actress, she was a self-taught inventor whose genius led to the development of Wi-Fi technology. Her work to aid World War II efforts demonstrated not only her intelligence.
