Colombian star Karol G was awarded as Woman of the Year 2024 to the Billboard Women in Music Awards last Wednesday (6), in what becomes a significant milestone for the singer, as she is the first artist who records primarily in Spanish to receive the honor since the ceremony’s inauguration in 2007.
This result is proof of this unprecedented impact and influence on the music industry.
Karol G It is also the first person in Latin America to receive this recognition.
“For many years I was disappointed that as a woman I had to face a path with so much rejection and so many missed opportunities. I wondered why I wasn’t born a man to explore all this love, desire and passion. I felt for music”said the interpreter of hits like TQG.
“I decided that I would continue making music, even if it were only for me. I understood that if my environment didn’t change, I would be the one who had to change, I would be the one to do it. I wouldn’t allow the fact of being a woman was an obstacle or defined my abilities, but rather that she was my strength, my purpose and my reason. Now I look back and see all the time it took me to get here, 16 years, and I I feel very at peace with myself because I followed my heart. Follow your heart”, continuous.
