Streaming platform closed the third quarter of 2025 below growth expectations and claims that tax issues in the country influenced

THE Netflix blamed the Brazil due to the fact that it did not reach its growth target, stipulated by Wall Streetfor the third quarter of 2025.

According to the streaming platform (via Flat Screen columnfrom the Look), the lower-than-expected result is due to the negotiation that involves the Streaming Bill (PL).

The streaming PL is under discussion in the country. The objective is to regulate the collection of taxes for video on demand platforms, such as Netflix and others.

According to the company, it incurred US$619 million (around R$3.3 billion) in taxes even before the final text of the PL was approved, which should come into force by the end of 2025.

The target set by Wall Street economists for the third quarter was a profit of US$6.93 per share for Netflix in Stock exchange of New York. The result was US$ 1.06 lower: in total, US$ 5.87 per share.

Success and prediction for Netflix

Despite this, the streaming platform recorded net profit of US$2.54 billion during the third quarter. An amount that represents an increase of 7.7% compared to the annual average, according to Veja.

The significant number would be a result of the success of the animation K-Pop warriorsone of Netflix’s top products in 2025.

For the fourth and final quarter of the year, Wall Street’s forecast is that Netflix’s share profit will be $5.45 in the period.
