RM, aespa, Yves, ATEEZ and Treasure release new videos that explore different themes, from emotional conflicts to post-apocalyptic scenarios
New clips featuring RM, aespa, Yves, ATEEZ and Treasure marked the week’s musical releases with varied themes, from emotional conflicts to post-apocalyptic scenarios, showcasing the versatility and reach of current K-Pop. Each production is distinguished by its creative direction and stunning visuals, which reflect each group’s distinct musical identities and offer audiences a diverse audiovisual experience.
RM “GROIN”
The BTS leader’s new release is an intense hip hop song, which is part of his second solo album, “Right Place, Wrong Person”, released on May 24. The album follows his first solo project, 2022’s “Indigo,” and explores themes of emotional conflict and frustration. Directed by Pennacky, the video for “Groin” features RM dancing in the streets, in casual black Adidas sportswear, attempting to evoke a “street” aesthetic.
AESPA “ARMAGEDDON”
The video for the album’s second single “My World”, released in May 2024, is a stunning visual work that mixes elements of science fiction and fantasy. The visual narrative follows the members of Aespa in a post-apocalyptic setting, facing challenges and discovering new powers. The direction by Rima Yoon (who previously worked with Itzy and Seventeen) highlights beautiful cinematography and advanced visual effects, while the music is driven by “old school” hip hop with a beat set by synth bass. The message of the lyrics is that “Only I can define myself.”
YVES “LOOP” – FEAT. SMALL CHERRY
The former Loona member releases the first single of her solo career after the girl group split in court amid lawsuits against record label Blockberry Creative. “Loop”, in fact, was born from the partnership with rapper Lil Cherry. The track, which mixes house music and hip hop, features a video full of choreography, in which Yves explores the themes of repetition and cycles. The video was shot in a metropolitan setting, which adds an urban atmosphere and a touch of claustrophobia to the visual narrative.
ATEEZ “WORK”
The boyband’s first song in 2024 is part of the mini-album “Golden Hour Part 1”, released on Friday (31/5), and marks the beginning of a new era for the group, after the success of the series of EPs “The world”. Set to a hip hop beat with reggaeton passages, the clip follows the group members as they take on various jobs to earn money, from running a snack bar to gold mining. The aesthetic of the clip is varied, with scenes including a desert and an office, reflecting the members’ struggle and determination in their pursuits. The direction highlights energetic choreography and creative transitions between scenes.
TREASURE “KING KONG”
The boyband gives us a single full of energy, accompanied by a video with cinematic touches. The song opens with guitars, with a chorus declaring “my heart is like King Kong”, followed by a heavy rap session featuring vocals from Hyun Suk, Yoshi and Haruto. The presentation unfolds with dynamic dance scenes in urban and alien environments, created with more emphasis on art direction than visual effects.
