The case was brought to the court in Los Angeles (United States) last Wednesday, 6. The lawsuit involves late payments since 2020 in the amount of about US$ 221,000. “The items are all rare, treasured pieces and valued for their scarcity and importance in fashion history,” the lawyers said in a statement.

“They are not commodities. Replacement fees reflect the loss of future loans, rental opportunities, advertising, in addition to the lost value of the Archive as a whole. Every lost item is part of a larger collection that delivers value for its completeness,” they continued.

Also according to the statement, Yes was informed of the extra fees and the importance of returning the parts and would have agreed – verbally and in writing – in previous negotiations. However, the rapper and representatives have not responded about clothing not returned to the company.

Kanye sued by Donda 2

Texas Pastor, United States, Bishop David Paul Moten sued Kanye for using his sermon on the record Donda (2021). Rapper sampled priest’s lines for the track “Come To Life.”

In addition to Yes, UMG Recordings, Def Jam Recordings and GOOD Musicrecord label and distributors, are also targets of the Moten. The pastor alleges that the rapper did not ask permission to use the recording (via NME).

He was also sued for the track “Flowers,” which uses snippets from “Move Your Body” (aka “The House Music Anthem”), by Marshall Jefferson. According to the New York court case, snippets of the iconic house song are “repeated at least 22 times” in the song. “west fights for the rights of the artists, however, it is not ashamed to take the rights of some of them,” says the file.
