Tom Hamilton gave an email interview to Charlie Kendall’s Metalshop and gave details of how vocalist and frontman Steven Tyler’s injury occurred.
One of the most important bands in world rock, Aerosmith retired early from the stage after the vocalist and frontman Steven Tyler fracture his larynx during a show, which took place in September 2023. Now, the bassist Tom Hamilton revealed what the iconic group’s alternative plans are – of course, touring is not in the package.
During an email interview with Charlie Kendall’s Metalshopthe artist revealed how there is no chance of the band performing live again, and took the opportunity to comment on the future of artists in music.
“First, let me start by clarifying some information about the injury Steven. We were playing the third show of our tour’Peace Out‘ in September 2023. During the third song of the set, Steven “He suffered a fall that resulted in a broken larynx,” he said. “Somehow he finished the show. Don’t ask me how. It’s a testament to his strength and desire to give people what they came for.”
It wasn’t a case of him blowing his throat out because he did something wrong. He’s been healing well and working hard to get ready to get back on the road, but it just wasn’t possible. The decision was made by the team, which includes the band and our dedicated management… we don’t know what the future holds, but it won’t include touring.
Right away, Tom Hamilton was asked if Aerosmith would consider going on the road with a replacement singer: “There has been no talk of going on the road with another singer. I can’t imagine that.”
“I’m sure we all have music in our future and it will manifest itself in ways we haven’t planned yet. I’ve been playing in a band with some good friends. We have a bunch of really good songs and we hope to release them soon and maybe play some shows,” he continued.
