Before the hiatus, Biel Basile, Guilherme D’Almeida and Tim Bernardes will perform their last show in Brazil on Friday night, the 6th, at the Coala Festival
After a celebrated 15-year career, the São Paulo indie rock band The Suit is in the final steps to begin an indefinite hiatus. The last show of the group, formed by Biel Basile, William D’Almeida and Tim Bernardestakes place on the night of this Friday, the 6th, at Koala Festival.
The presentation in question is scheduled for 8:40 pm (Brasília time), at Main Stage of the event in São Paulo. A few months later, the trio landed in Japan (November 2nd and 5th) and Portugal (November 18th and 21st). So it will be some time before we hear or see The Suit again.

During an interview with Rolling Stone Brazil, Tim Bernardes explained how the work with the group was quite long, but now they can better understand and notice everything they have done in Brazilian music in these 15 years. “Over the years, while we are building, we can only always look at the next step,” said the singer.
“The Suit started in 2009, a time when independent and alternative music still had a very small space,” he recalled. “At a time when social media was still in its infancy and streaming hadn’t started yet. So all of this happened at once and we were able to develop and mature musically as a band.”
We have managed to reach an audience that is much larger than we could have imagined at the beginning, and this even without a frequent presence on TV and Radio. Most of all, it is very interesting to note that we have managed to develop our own style.
Of course, the indie rock scene of 2009 is very different from what we see in 2024. Not surprisingly, The Suit is one of the main attractions at a big festival in the capital of São Paulo. With the disuse of CDs and the end of MTV, a channel that promoted several bands and beginning artists, the band managed to gain a lot of strength with the growth of Facebook, Instagram and streamings
“Somehow, many achievements ofThe Suit were also paving the way for other people who may come later and who, in addition, may take everything further,” he noted Tim Bernardes. “Terno transcended indie rock a little, and this also developed a lot in the audience that listened to this genre. There was a mix of Brazilian music and rock ‘n roll. And I think the genre managed to follow its own path.”
The journey is long and has several phases. Each phase has many developments, but there have always been memorable moments, such as recording songs, making music videos and winning awards, such as the Multishow Award. It was also remarkable that we were able to finance our album with Catharsisa crowdfunding, and have made the first Lollapalooza. The Better Than It Seems (2016) is a milestone when the band really managed to reach more people. We already had a channel with our audience on social media and the album managed to touch a lot of people. Behind/Beyond (2019) is already The Suit more mature and with a more mature audience.
