Dee Dee died at age 39 after drowning in her boyfriend’s pool
Tito Jackson and Delores “Dee Dee” Martes Jackson were married from 1972 to 1988. They had three children together. A few years after their divorce, in August 1994, Dee Dee passed away.
Brother’s ex-wife Michael Jackson died at age 39 after drowning in a pool at her then-boyfriend’s house Don Bohana. An autopsy performed the following month showed that she suffered “blunt force trauma” and her death appeared “non-accidental” (via People).
Tito and the children believed that Dee Dee drowned due to her fear of water. “My first question was, ‘Drowned? What was she doing in the water?'” he recalled Tito in conversation with the ABC News in 2017. “Because Dee Dee and I, neither of us anything.”

Bohana and Dee Dee were under the influence of drugs the night she died. He claimed that the injuries on his girlfriend’s body were caused when he tried to pull her out of the pool. “I’ll keep saying she could swim until my grave,” he said. Bohana.

The family Jackson believed that Dee Dee was murdered in the midst of a dispute over money. “She was a Jacksonand that’s what he knew,” he argued Tito.
The children and the mother of Tito, Katherinefiled a wrongful death lawsuit against Bohana in 1995, and the lawyer Brian Oxman started a campaign to have the case of Dee Dee was reopened.
Bohana was sentenced in 1998 and spent 24 years in prison, being released on parole in December 2022.
