Special gift
Raissa Real, the 16th daughter of the late Mr. Catra, will release her first funk album this Tuesday (11/5), the day her father would have turned 56. The album “Filha do Funk” marks the debut of the young woman in the artistic world and also pays a special tribute to the funk artist.
In an interview with Extra newspaper, the new artist revealed that Catra didn’t get to see her sing before she died of stomach cancer on September 9, 2018, but she knew she wanted to venture into the world of music in some way. point.
“My father didn’t have the opportunity to see me sing, but he always knew that I wanted to do it. He protected me from this artistic universe because he knew it wasn’t easy. But I was always in the studios, disturbing (laughs). A year after his death, I decided that music would become a profession from a hobby, and I found a way to be blessed. This album with eight songs comes as a gift, a tribute to this guy who changed funk history, who broke barriers ” Raissa said.
bold album
In addition to the dedication, the album “Filha do Funk” explores the various types of Brazilian funk, including batidões de baile, melody funk, songs with choreography for TikTok and, mainly, the genre that established Mr. Catra in the country: the funky from the 2000s.
“I put together this team of people who knew how to do it well, the way I wanted: current and not in your face. It’s very bold, with double meaning lyrics. Because I think it doesn’t need to be cheeky, even if I go dancing with my parents friends listening and dancing following the prohibitions, which I love to be able to work on the songs on TV, so that they become more popular.”
The young woman intends to break barriers and demonstrate her talent in the artistic world: “There are still a lot of prejudices. Just because I am Catra’s daughter, they think I must be very angry. Or they don’t even want to see my talent, but I will continue her legacy, doing it my way,” he concluded.
The production of the debut album and the compositions were signed by Raissa in collaboration with JR ON and Gimenez.
