The Recording Academy announced this Friday (8/11) the nominees for the 67th annual Grammy Awards, which will take place in February 2025, and which will see Anitta competing for the second consecutive time for the award. She is competing for the best Latin pop album award with the album “Funk Generation”, but will have to beat big names like Shakira and Kali Uchis.

Anitta celebrated the nomination with a live broadcast on Instagram. “It’s a funk album nominated for a global Grammy. I’m breathless. Look at the history being made,” he said, as he danced in front of the television to “Savage Funk,” one of the album’s songs that is competing for the trophy. “I’ll leave you with this,” he continued, laughing and reeling.

Last year, the Brazilian competed in another category, that of Best New Artist, a sort of “revelation” of the year, despite her long career. On that occasion the trophy went to jazz singer Samara Joy.

Singer Beyoncé leads the awards list with 11 nominations, including major pop, rap, country and Americana music categories. With this, she surpassed her husband Jay-Z and became the most nominated artist in the history of the award, with a total of 99 nominations. The singer is the most awarded artist at the Grammys, with 32 wins.

The list also highlights singers Charli xcx, Billie Eilish, Kendrick Lamar and Post Malone, who received seven nominations each, as well as Sabrina Carpenter, Chappell Roan and Taylor Swift with six nominations.

The trophy ceremony will take place on February 2 at the Crypto.com Arena, Los Angeles, United States. Previous editions were broadcast in Brazil on the pay channel TNT and on the Max streaming platforms.
