The Who won’t end – and Roger Daltrey reveals idea for next tour

Previous statements pointed to the band’s closure, but its main members appear to have backtracked.

Fans of The Who they were apprehensive about the sequence of the band’s activities. It wouldn’t be incomprehensible if they retired, given that its core members are in their 80s and the group has existed for six decades. Still, it’s not what the public wants.

In an interview prior to the The Daily Beastlast August, the guitarist Pete Townshend said he wasn’t even talking to the singer Roger Daltrey and that the Who could leave the scene due to simple lack of interest on both sides. In October, at the TheStandard, Townshend went back and said that the group must do “something” in 2025.

There was no manifestation of Roger — who came in an interview with Press Association. Although he has solo commitments scheduled for next year, the singer said that his original band should also tour. The shows will probably take place in the United States.

The vocalist only asks for one thing: 100% commitment from everyone involved. If that happens, there will be a tour. He also highlights that the presentations should be more relaxed, unlike what was seen on the last tour, performed with an orchestra:

We took it to its peak, which was kind of the last tour, which was with an orchestra. The only place we can go now is to go back to the beginning, when we were small and visceral, and bring back the improvisation, because we used to do a lot of that in shows.”

Right away, Daltrey finishes:

Let’s give the public what we feel like giving them. Let’s dig deep and maybe we’ll find something else. Maybe we need to get a little more dangerous.”

The Who currently

The aforementioned tour of The Who with orchestra was completed in August 2023, in England. Since then, the band reunited on March 18 and 20 of this year for two performances in London as part of the charity event for Teenage Cancer Trustan entity supported by Roger Daltrey.
