Ed Motta yells and swears at a roadie during a show: ‘Get away from me!’; see the moment

The singer was performing at a festival in Petrópolis, Rio de Janeiro, when he apparently had a problem with the professional. Motta says technical errors compromised his performance

The singer and composer Ed Motta was one of the attractions of Rock The Mountain, a festival that took place this weekend in Petrópolis, Rio de Janeiro. Motta performed on one of the alternative stages of the event, in the late afternoon of Sunday 17th.

From a video circulating on social media we can see that Motta, during the show, argued with a roadie, a professional who collaborates with artists and bands to provide technical support before, during and after the performance.

The video begins with Motta sitting at the keyboard, as he turns to the as-yet-unidentified professional and says into the microphone: “Any roadie knows this. You’re out, man. I said you’d stay.” , but it’s the last show you do.” The audience seemed uninterested in the presentation.

Then Motta starts playing a song accompanied by his band. It seems to still have some technical problems. Motta looks to the side and sees the roadie moving around the stage. Once he took out the microphone, he shouted at the professional: “Son of a bitch! Damn it!”

The roadie then tries to get close to the singer. That’s when Motta screams, making a gesture to avoid approaching. “No! Get away, get away!”

The public, noticing Motta’s attitude, begins to boo him and send him a negative signal, disapproving of the artist’s behavior.

THE Estadao She reached out to Ed Motta’s representative, Nina Guimarães, to find out what really happened and why the singer cursed the roadie, but received no response.

On his Instagram, in response to a follower who criticized his attitude, Motta responded: “(the professionals) were less attentive and professional with me. Everyone receives the same compensation. The level of errors made today compromised my performance and therefore the band. No, it was a simple thing, a small thing, it was serious, for real,” he wrote.

Motta also apologized. “But you are absolutely right. I should have a sharper emotional intelligence (cockroach blood). I apologized for what happened on the show and I apologize again to you and everyone in attendance,” he wrote.

The Report also reached out to Rock the Mountain to see if the festival would take a position on the incident, but did not hear back either. The space remains open for both Ed Motta and the festival.

Passionate about everyday life, Motta has already been involved in other controversies. In June 2024, he called hip-hop fans “stupid”. Shortly after, he went back. He posted a video apologizing. “Who has never made a mistake?” he asked himself.

In an interview with Estadao in October 2023 Motta classified the controversy as “buzz” and states that its humor is “caustic, acidic and cynical”. He also said that not everything he says in his life is necessarily true.
