Noel Gallagher Calls The Beach Boys ‘The Most Overrated Group Of All Time’

Noel Gallagher made the comment after comparisons between his third album and the work of The Beach Boys

Noel Gallagher he doesn’t usually speak his tongue when it comes to criticizing someone he likes, let alone in contrary situations. In an interview, the singer criticized the singer of The Beach Boys, Brian Wilsondescribing him as one of the most β€œoverrated” of music – even more so than himself.

The guitarist and vocalist spoke with the Paste Magazine in 2017 (redeemed by the website Far Out Magazine) and was surprised when the reporter compared his solo album Who Built the Moon (2017) to songs by Brian Wilson. Irritated, Santa did not respond kindly to the reference comment.

But what the hell, I hate Brian Wilson! Wants to know? If there’s anyone more overrated than me in the industry, it’s this guy.

It wasn’t the only time the ex-Oasis made a derogatory comment about the American musician. During an appearance on the TV show Hoppus on Musicin Mark Hoppus (Blink-182), in 2011, Santa also made harsh criticisms of the North American group.

β€œThe only reasons why the beach boys were successful is because they were close to the Beatles on store shelves and Paul McCartney liked them. They are the most overrated band of all time. Barbershop quartet music, rubbish.”

Whether or not to like Noel Gallagher, the fact is that the beach boys revolutionized pop music in the 1960s, mixing rock and roll, R&B and influences from vocal harmonies groups from decades earlier.

Pet Sounds, 1966 album, is considered ground zero of the movement that became known as art rock. To date, the band has sold over 100 million records worldwide.
