Guitarist Frank Iro has revealed that he plans to withdraw from the “soon” excursions – and his colleagues do not seem to be willing to follow without him
The History of My Chemical Romance It was marked by very high periods and no activity. The American group was formed in 2001 and was not long before it became popular. According to the database of the Setlist.fmthey performed 586 shows between 2003 and 2005 – on average, one every two days. A lot of rush.
The rhythm proved less crazy in the following years, but still demanded a lot from the members. In 2013, the band went into hiatus and the wear and tear served as one of the main justifications. They gathered in 2019, but since then they have performed less than 100 performances.
Apparently, there is no interest in making long tours. Or at least that’s what indicates Frank iero.
In an interview with Kerrang!the 43 -year -old guitarist revealed to believe that he will not take so long until he retired from the excursions. As it is in training practically from the beginning – more specifically, in 2002 – and the other members seem to be committed to parallel activities, it is difficult to imagine a continuity of the group without Iro.
“Being very honest, I feel that at the age I am, I am probably my end with the tours. It’s coming, it will be soon. ”
The musician points to the wear caused by the tours. Of course, he has enjoyed working in studio more than taking the stage every night.
“I think the older I get, the more I like the process of making records. If I depended on me, I think I would probably do it more often than the tours. ”

Interestingly, Iero continues to excuse not only with My Chemical Romance, but also with the LS DUNESsupergroup formed in 2022 with members of the Saosin, Coheed and Cambriabetween others. In addition, he began in 2013 to a solo career that promoted constant tours in the pre-pound period.
For example, the guitarist held 131 solo shows in 2015 and 108 in 2017, plus 59 with LS Dunes in 2023. In other moments, he joined the projects Leathermouth and Death Spellsalso with activities on the road.
My Chemical Romance Currently
Since its meeting in 2019, My Chemical Romance has not returned to Brazil. To this day the band came only once to the country in 2008, as part of the tour that released the album The Black Parade (2006).
Only an unprecedented song was released as the fruit of the return: “The Foundations of Decay”. Your next tour will go through North America, with 10 shows between July and September.
