Wind of Change’s plot apparently even allowed two important musicians for the band to be portrayed, but it should not be the case
Following the trend of several other artists and bands, the Scorpions It will also be portrayed in a biography. Wind of Changemovie of the same title of its biggest hit, is still in production, but had its first teaser released online.
The work seeks to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the German band, one of the most influential and long -lived in hard rock history. Directed from Alex Ranarivelthe feature film is produced by ESX Entertainment to the FOX Entertainment Studios in association with Warner Bros Home Entertainment.

Through your music, with successes ranging from ‘Rock You Like a Hurricane’ the ‘Still Loving You’Scorpions helped unite the East and the West, leaving an indelible mark in history and proving the transforming power of art. ”

In an interview with Rolling Stone Brazil, vocalist Klaus Meine said Alex Ranarivel is a big fan of Scorpions and left him the idea of making a biography instead of a documentary. He counts:
“We are still in the phase of configuring the whole project. We want filming to start soon, but we still don’t know exactly when. We hope they can finish everything in the coming months, so that it coincides with the band’s 60th anniversary. They will tell the story of Scorpions from a different point of view.

However, the absence of at least two crucial members, one present in the founding of the group and the other, member during the most successful years and even credited to playing in “Wind of Change”. They are:
- the guitarist Michael SchenkerRudolf’s younger brother and linked to the group from 1969 until 1973, with a studio return between 1978 and 1979;
- and the bassist Francis Buchholzpresent in the formation between 1973 and 1992 – practically the same time as drummer Herman Rarebell, portrayed in the film and member between 1977 and 1996.
The cut musicians of the Scorpions movie
It is difficult to say accurately why specific members were cut from Wind of Changesince, of course, it is not known in detail the complete plot of the movie. However, there are reasons to justify the absences of both Michael Schenker and Francis Buchholz.
For decades, Michael has been up to Rudolf’s war, especially due to the brief bond between 1978 and 1979, when the youngest was brought back to record the album Lovedrive (1979). In an interview with The Metal Voice (via Igor Miranda website), Michael accused his brother of not allowing him to be portrayed in the band’s photo that accompanies the booklet and not to credit him by the songs of the songs “Holiday” and “Coast to Coast”.

Defining Rudolf as “traitor”, he stated:
“Why Rudolf plays with a black and white Flying V guitar? Why does he dye his hair white? He wants to be me. Do you think Rudolf gives the fair portion of copyright to anyone?
The situation with Francis is more delicate and less passionate. The musician was dissatisfied after a series of internal changes in the group’s business and financial scope and decided to leave. Neither party gives specific details of what really happened-although the bassist speaks more openly than his former colleagues-but when Scorpions gathered his former member at the festival Wacken Open Air In 2006, Buchholz was the only absence.

In an interview with Classic RockKlaus Meine comments:
“People often think our break with Dieter [Dierks, produtor] It was ugly, but it wasn’t quite like that. However, with Francis, it was a very ugly rupture. To shorten history, when we made the decision to change our entire business structure and fire our manager, unfortunately Francis went with him. We lost a friend and a great musician. ”
In turn, to the website GET READY TO ROLLFrancis says the decision to break was half of him, half of the band. For him, it was unsustainable to continue with the business structure of that period.
“Shortly after the start of a tour, it was decided that we would fire our manager, CCC. While everyone had fun at the hotel pools during the time off, I spent my time on the phone talking to Dick Asher, who was president of the label. […] I realized that we needed a professional American entrepreneur again. Asher suggested that Doc McGhee – Bon Jovi businessman at the time – assumed world management, talked to him, everyone liked it. A few years later, the rest of the band suddenly decided to dismiss our lawyers and tax consultants, although no one – except me – really cared about all these matters. No one seemed to understand the importance of a functional structure for an international tour band. I was not willing to change everything again.
He was also unable to have chaos in the middle of an examination by the German tax authorities, which occurred at that time. I preferred to devote my time to musical creativity and needed time for my family. New people were hired: an additional businessman for McGhee, a new lawyer and a new tax consulting firm. […] I came across the question of accepting these new and still inexperienced people in the music industry, what the band wanted, or leave. Also, I felt that some of these new people didn’t seem to meet my ambitious expectations. ”
The fact is that it will be very strange to watch a bassist rock band in the movie, as no one was put in place of Buchholz. The feature film has no premiere yet.
