Drama starring Rafael Vitti and his dog Amendoim celebrates the power that certain encounters have to transform our lives

Carameldrama starring Rafael Vitti (Beyond Illusion) and by the four-legged star Peanutplaying the caramel mutt, an animal that has become a symbol of Brazil in several memes, is now available on Netflix and is among the most watched on the platform. But what many want to know before playing is: does the puppy die at the end? Find out below:

What is it about?

In the story, Pedro (Rafael Vitti) is a stubborn chef who is about to fulfill his dream of running a restaurant, when an unexpected diagnosis turns everything upside down. With the help of a friendly caramel mutt (Peanut), he embarks on an exciting journey of rediscovery, finding meaning and inspiration in the now. It’s to get excited – and fall in love.

Who is in production?

With direction from Diego Freitas (After the Universe), Caramel also features in the cast Arianne Botelho (The Law of Love), Noemia Oliveira (Back Door), Ademara (No Filter), Kelzy Ecard (Second Sun), Bruno Vinicius, Roger Gobeth (Floribella), Olivia Araújo (Fuzuê), in addition to Cristina Pereira and Carolina Ferraz (The Astro), and a special appearance by the chef Paola Carosella.

After all, the little dog Caramel dies at the end?

Rest assured, the Brazilian film does not show the puppy dying at the end of the film. The story ends with Pedro and his dog together after a long period of time. “There goes 12 years. Who knew! For those who have only had seven days, I’m actually in profit. Breathing… Feeling… Living”, says Pedro in voiceover, enjoying the beach and the sea next to the mascot, indicating that his tumor has gone into remission, but there is still no cure.

The cure has not yet come. But what is healing if not being here? Building a home, making plans, having dreams – always with you by my side, my friend”, alongside his faithful dog, now older, ending the story in a philosophical way.
