Sirâta film selected by Spain to try for a spot at the 2026 Oscars and winner of the Grand Prix at this year’s Cannes Festival, had its release date revealed by Retrato Filmes. The long Oliver Laxe (What Burns) opened the 49th São Paulo International Film Festival. Find out more below:
What is the story about?
The production follows a father and son who arrive at a rave in the mountains of Morocco. Both are searching for Mar — daughter and sister — who disappeared months earlier at one of those endless parties. Surrounded by electronic music and a raw, unknown feeling of freedom, they distribute the young woman’s photo. Hope fades, but the two persist and follow a group of regulars towards one last party in the desert. As they advance through a scorching landscape, the journey forces them to confront their own limits.
When does Sirât premiere in cinemas?
Signed by the production company El Deseo, by the brothers Agustin and Pedro AlmodóvarSirât opens in Brazilian cinemas on January 15, 2026. The film also had its first poster released. Check it out below:
