The audience experienced the attractions by going on stage; the festival ended with a DJ sequence
Would you spend your Saturday at a festival that doesn’t publish the list of artists who will take the stage? This Saturday, 25, 2.5 thousand people who accepted the unusual proposal of At the Heineken Lineup Festivalgathered in a simple space in Barra Funda, São Paulo, and were treated to a succession of surprises that included names like Brother Brown AND Chaka Khan.
The gate was opened exactly at 3pm, the time the festival was scheduled to start. The arriving audience was treated to a quick performance by DJ Nuven, an electronic project by Gustavo Teixeira.
Soon after, rapper Don L took to the festival’s outdoor stage. A large part of the audience was already involved in the musician’s performance: it was difficult to find people distracted or disinterested in the festival, a common phenomenon in large events such as The Town and Lollapalooza.
The fact is that whoever was there came with an open mind. “I was curious. I like these ‘discovered’ things,” commented shop assistant Marta Santos, 48.
Workplace safety technician Luis Otavio, 29, said he has overcome the “fear” of missing a show by an artist he likes. He was one of the lucky ones who managed to secure the tickets distributed for free.
“I found this sense of mystery interesting,” he said. “I have no idea who might come, but I’ll still have fun.”
Marta bet on big names, like Demi Lovato or Paul McCartney. Even though it wasn’t either of them, the saleswoman was confident she could expect a “big international name.”
The No LineUp Festival lasted until 3am on Sunday 26th. The first hours were characterized by the sets of national and international DJs, such as Arca and DJ Tessuto.
