‘He is an instrument of the status quo and is filling his pockets with money while the world goes to hell’, says the actor about the president

Harrison Ford harshly criticized the government Trump and the lack of policies to combat climate change in a new interview.

In conversation with the The Guardian, Ford — an outspoken critic of donald trump — expressed concern about the future of the environment, especially after the wildfires in the Los Angeles region, which affected thousands of Californians, including himself.

“[Donald Trump] he has no policies, he has whims. That scares me,” he said. Ford. “Ignorance, arrogance, lies, perfidy. [Trump] he knows what he’s doing, but he’s an instrument of the status quo and he’s lining his pockets with money while the world goes to hell. It’s unbelievable. I don’t know of a greater criminal in history.”

As a historic hurricane — category 5 and fueled, according to experts, by rising water temperatures due to global warming — approaches Jamaica, Ford also pointed to the almost annual wildfires that ravage the country as further proof of Trump’s harmful policies (or lack thereof), including his decision to withdraw the US from the Paris Agreement and encourage oil companies to continue drilling.

“I knew this was coming, I’ve been talking about these things for 30 years,” he said. The actor, who received a conservation leadership award during a ceremony at Field Museum of Chicago on Wednesday, also warned: “We are on the brink of collapse. Indigenous peoples are the guardians of much of the forests that still stand and carry the hope that these precious places can be preserved. Science has already proven the value of their conservation, but this does not prevent them from suffering invasions, and the protection granted to them is fragile in some of the countries where these resources exist.”
