The 70-year-old musician discovered late-stage cancer after going to the hospital last week
Singer Cecil Spencebetter known as quickfrom Israel Vibration, he had announced his death on Friday night, 26, at the age of 70. Being treated for arthritis, he fell ill last week and went to the hospital, where he found out he had advanced cancer.

The group began in the 1970s, at the height of Jamaican reggae, and also had Lascelle Bulgin, Wiss, and Albert Craig, Apple Gabriel, who left the group in the 1990s to pursue a solo career. Gabriel passed away on March 23, 2020. In 2012, Israel Vibration received a nomination in the Best Reggae Album category in Grammy Awardsfor his work on the record Reggae knights.
Skelly has been to Brazil a few times for the band’s concerts. The most recent opportunities were in 2019, 2018 and 2013.

“We are deeply sorry to announce that Cecil ‘Skelly’ Spence has retired.
For the past few months, he has undergone therapy on his right hand and shoulder for arthritis. For the past week, he was feeling unwell and went to a New York hospital where he discovered he had aggressive cancer with no cure.
He asked for his love to be sent to all of his fans. Those were some of her last words. Please pray for him.
Rest in peace, Skelly. We will miss you”.
Several reggae names regretted the fact in the publication’s comments, such as Aston Barrett Jr., Rohan Marley, Gramps Morgan, and Rodrigo Piccolo.
