“Eyes of the Storm” exhibition will show 275 intimate images of the Beatles at the National Portrait Gallery in London
A series of unpublished photos taken by Paul McCartney When the Beatles achieved global stardom will be shown in London this year. Entitled “Eyes of the Storm”the exhibition will be held at National Portrait Gallery as part of the celebrations for the gallery’s reopening in June after three years of renovations.

In a press release, the gallery director, Nicholas Cullinansaid that McCartney contacted the gallery’s management in 2020 to hold an exhibition of photos from late 1963 and early 1964, which he believed were lost.

The 275 photos (selected from more than 1,000) cover intimate moments of the Fab Four on tours of the band through Liverpool, London, Paris until the mythical first trip to the United States for the historic appearance in the television program The Ed Sullivan Show.

Paul McCartney Photographs 1963-64: Eyes of the Storm opens June 28th and runs through October 1st. The gallery is expected to reopen on June 22. Other exhibitions scheduled for this year include a retrospective of the 20th century English photographer, Yevondean exhibition of drawings by David Hockney and an exhibition of portraits of black artists from the United States and Great Britain.
