The song recorded in 1970 – which you can see in the video above – appears in two important moments of the episode: when Frank and Bill meet and play the song on the piano, with an incredible performance by actor Nick Offerman; and when Joel and Ellie hit the road in Bill’s truck at the end of the episode.

Ronstadt was once rock’n’roll’s highest-paid singer, but he left the stage in 2003, a victim of Parkinson’s disease. An icon of classic rock, the artist won 10 Grammy Awards and made a career in the late 60s, with hits such as ‘Different drum‘, ‘You are not good‘, ‘blue bayou‘ And ‘desperate‘, Moreover ‘so much time‘, which helped define the style of Californian rock-folk for the next decade. Not surprisingly, two of his backing musicians formed the Eaglessuccessful groupCalifornia hotels‘.

Although ‘so much time‘ didn’t sit well with Ellie, Joel shares Bill and Frank’s musical tastes. “This is good“, acknowledges the smuggler at the end of episode 3 of The Last of Us.

With weekly episodes, The Last of Us airs Sundays on HBO and HBO Max.
