Noches del Botánico Draws 190,000 in Record 10th Edition

Noches del Botánico closed its tenth edition as the most successful in the festival’s history, drawing more than 190,000 attendees to 52 concerts held at the Real Jardín Botánico Alfonso XIII in Madrid between June 4 and July 31.

The festival concluded with performances by Cultura Profética and Çantamarta. Organisers said the figures confirm that the event, now a decade old, continues to grow without losing the character that made it distinctive.

Artists and atmosphere

This year’s lineup spanned rock, jazz, flamenco, electronics, salsa, merengue, pop, and Latin sounds. Performers included Pat Metheny, ZZ Top, Two Door Cinema Club, Rick Astley, OMD, Belle and Sebastian, Babasónicos, Nu Genea, and Elvis Crespo, among many others.

The edition also featured the 30th anniversary of Omega, three nights with Love of Lesbian, and debut appearances at the venue by Yerai Cortés, Rigoberta Bandini, Shinova, and Ginebras.

Returning acts included Tom Jones, Rubén Blades, Nile Rodgers, and Zaz. Artists including Jean-Michel Jarre, Garbage, Love of Lesbian, The Kooks, and Biffy Clyro publicly described Noches del Botánico as one of the most special stages on their respective tours. Van Morrison was noted for an unusually close connection with the audience.

Venue and experience

The festival is held on the grounds of the Real Jardín Botánico Alfonso XIII, which covers more than 40,000 square metres and is administered by the Universidad Complutense de Madrid. Organisers describe it as the only European festival of its kind held under the umbrella of a public university.

Beyond the concerts, the festival offered daily door opening from 7:30 p.m., rest areas, deck chairs, a wine bar, food options, and the Zona Momentos Alhambra, which showcased emerging talent and DJ sets.

More than 300 professionals worked on the event, alongside support from sponsors including Alhambra, Occident, Iberia, CaixaBank, Johnnie Walker, El Corte Inglés, Coca-Cola, and Aperol Spritz.

Organisers said they are already working on the next edition with the aim of maintaining the quality standards that have established the festival as one of the major events on Spain’s summer music calendar.
