Fantasy drama Outlander: Blood of My Blood has surged into the top six most watched series globally on streaming platform HBO Max.
The romantic fantasy prequel, produced by American cable network Starz, climbed international viewing charts following the release of its second season on September 18.
According to viewership data from analytics provider FlixPatrol, the show now ranks as the sixth most watched television series worldwide on HBO Max. Its strong performance comes as a surprise entry on the platform, which is owned by Warner Bros. Discovery rather than the show parent network Starz.
Global streaming rankings
The prequel series is currently trending on HBO Max across 15 countries. It has captured the number one spot as the most popular television show in several European territories, including Bulgaria, Moldova, and Romania.
The global audience for the show extends beyond HBO Max. According to FlixPatrol data, the series is also replicating its chart success on Disney+, where it is currently trending in up to 17 countries.
In the United States, the prequel remains the most watched series domestically on its home network Starz, where it streams alongside the original Outlander show. In Spain, viewers can watch the second season through the Movistar Plus+ subscription platform.
The rise of Outlander: Blood of My Blood on HBO Max comes despite the platform owning its own flagship fantasy titles. HBO Max is the exclusive home of series set in the Game of Thrones universe of Westeros, but licensed titles from outside studios continue to perform strongly on the service.
