Penélope Cruz and Naomi Watts brought high fashion to the second red carpet of the 2026 San Sebastián Film Festival in Spain on Saturday.
The annual event in the Basque coastal city once again paired international cinema with haute couture design as stars gathered for the festival second major evening.
Penélope Cruz Wears Miss Sohee Minidress
Spanish actress Penélope Cruz returned to the San Sebastián Film Festival after a four-year absence to present two film projects: The Invite and La bola negra.
La bola negra has been selected as the official submission to represent Spain in the competition for Best International Feature Film at the 2027 Academy Awards.
Cruz made a notable style pivot on Saturday by stepping away from French fashion house Chanel, which she had worn throughout the promotional tour for the movie directed by Spanish creative duo Los Javis.
Instead, she wore a jeweled couture minidress with floral motifs from the spring-summer 2026 collection by designer Miss Sohee. The dress featured a corset-style bodice with a strapless neckline adorned with crystal appliqués designed to simulate mermaid scales.
The tube skirt demonstrated intricate hand craftsmanship, featuring navy blue and silver sequins arranged in detailed floral patterns.
She complemented the look with a matching handbag carrying identical decorative detailing, paired with platform sandals reminiscent of 2000s footwear fashion. Her jewelry included subtle earrings and bracelets from fine jewelry label Zoya, styled alongside a straight loose short hairstyle and dark evening eyeshadow.
Naomi Watts Accepts Donostia Lifetime Achievement Award
Fellow international star Naomi Watts took center stage during the Saturday evening gala to receive the 2026 Donostia Award in recognition of her career in film.
Spanish film director J.A. Bayona presented the honorary award to Watts on stage. Bayona previously directed Watts in the 2012 drama The Impossible.
The Donostia Award is the highest honorary accolade presented at the festival, awarded annually to figures in international cinema for outstanding career achievement.
Watts walked the red carpet in a black velvet-effect gown highlighted by romantic white floral motifs along the shoulder strap and side area. The silhouette featured a crossover neckline with an integrated side-folded sash created to accentuate the figure.
She accessorized the look with matching black peep-toe high-heeled sandals featuring decorative bows, styling her short straight hair loose with striking red lipstick.
