Oscar winner and Doctor Who actor Peter Capaldi is joining the cast of detective comedy series Only Murders in the Building for its sixth season.
The upcoming season of the hit show will relocate its story from New York to London, where the main trio will travel to solve a new crime, according to Deadline.
The comedy follows true crime enthusiasts Charles, played by Steve Martin, Oliver, played by Martin Short, and Mabel, played by Selena Gomez. The three Manhattan high-rise residents unexpectedly find themselves drawn into the center of a murder investigation.
Only Murders in the Building is an American mystery comedy series centered on apartment neighbors who launch a podcast about crimes in their building. The show regularly features prominent guest stars alongside its core leads.
Doctor Who cast reunion
Capaldi will be joined in the UK capital by several fellow Doctor Who stars. David Tennant and Jodie Whittaker, who both played the lead role of the Doctor in the long-running science fiction franchise, have also joined the cast.
Actor Jim Broadbent is also set to appear in the new season. He previously starred in the Comic Relief special, Doctor Who: The Curse of Fatal Death.
Doctor Who is a flagship British science fiction television program produced by the BBC. The show follows a time-traveling alien known as the Doctor, who periodically regenerates into new body forms played by different actors.
Guest stars and premiere details
The extensive guest line-up for season six includes Nicola Coughlan, Richard Ayoade, Adrian Lukis, Kathryn Hunter, Jennifer Saunders, Sean Teale, Simone Ashley, Amer Chadha-Patel, and Rea Norwood.
Matthew Beard, Sharon Horgan, Martin Freeman, Geri Halliwell, Jamie Demetriou, Anjana Vasan, Jane Horrocks, Derek Jacobi, and Lesley Nicol will also feature in the series.
A premiere date for the upcoming sixth season has not yet been announced.
