Australian actress Rebel Wilson stepped out on Tuesday night to attend a Sydney film premiere alongside her sister while taking a break from court dates.
The 46-year-old was in good spirits as she arrived at the premiere screening of Verity, a new thriller film starring Dakota Johnson and Anne Hathaway.
Rebel was accompanied on the red carpet by her lookalike sister Liberty Wilson, 44. The siblings linked arms, smiled and laughed together as they posed for photographers in front of the media wall.
Red carpet style in Sydney
The Pitch Perfect actress showed off her trim figure in an all-black ensemble on the red carpet. Her outfit featured a fitted top worn under a tailored blazer, which she paired with matching black trousers and heels.
She completed her outfit with a luxury leather Birkin handbag. The Birkin bag, created by French fashion house Hermes and named after actress Jane Birkin, is recognized worldwide as an exclusive luxury leather accessory.
Liberty opted for a chic light yellow jumper featuring a V-neck cut that showed off some bust. She styled the top with leather trousers and kept her accessories minimal, wearing an Apple Watch with a brown band.
While posing together before the media wall, Rebel did not speak to waiting journalists. She made no comment regarding her headline-making legal battle currently underway in Sydney.
Legal battle over directorial debut
The red carpet appearance came after Wilson returned to a court in Sydney on Monday. The actress has been attending a series of court dates in the city amid a legal battle over her directorial debut, the comedy film The Deb.
Britain-based production company AI Film Production Limited is suing Wilson in the Supreme Court of New South Wales. The lawsuit alleges that Wilson undermined and blocked the release of the musical comedy, causing the company financial and reputational damage.
The release of the movie was shelved in 2024 after Wilson fell out with co-producers Amanda Ghost, her husband Greg Cameron, and Vince Holden. Following the fallout and legal dispute, the film was eventually released in April this year.
Defamation court case and background
The Supreme Court proceedings follow a separate defamation suit in the Federal Court in Sydney, which Wilson won in July. That legal action had been brought against her by Australian actor Charlotte MacInnes, who starred in The Deb.
Social media posts published by Wilson in July 2024 are at the centre of both legal suits in Sydney.
