Rita, 35, was joined on the vessel by her husband, 50-year-old New Zealand film director Taika Waititi. The party also included her friend, model and DJ Lady Mary Charteris, 39, as well as Mary's husband Robbie Furze and their daughter Wilde Jessie Furze.

During the day at sea, Rita went snorkelling before showering off on board the boat. She also cooled down with a refreshing dip in the sea and appeared weary after climbing back up the ladder.

The star accessorised her holiday attire with gold jewellery, including bangles and chains, while leaving her platinum blonde hair loose. She went for a swim before relaxing alongside Waititi in an inflatable sea pool.

Lady Mary Charteris also spent the day soaking up the sun on the deck of the megayacht in a skimpy brown bikini. The DJ kept her phone close at hand to capture photographs as both friends took a break from their busy careers.

The group later dried off and boarded a speedboat to head toward dry land. For the shore excursion, Rita wore barely-there lace leggings accessorised with a black bandana and a furry black bag, and was seen chatting on her phone.

Celebrations and family background

The getaway served as a double celebration for the couple, who mark their fourth wedding anniversary this month while Waititi also turns 51. The pair married in a secret ceremony in August 2022 after Rita bucked tradition and proposed to him.

Rita is currently working on her fourth album and recently reprised her role as the Queen of Hearts in Descendants. Although she now holds an estimated net worth of £26million, her early life was marked by displacement.

The star was having a whale of a time as she enjoyed a swim before kicking back in an inflatable sea pool with her film director husband Taika, 50

She was born in Pristina, Kosovo, but her family fled during the persecution of ethnic Albanians in the early 1990s. Her mother Vera was a doctor and her father Besnik was an economist when they arrived in the UK.

After learning English, her father swapped careers to run the Queens Arms Pub in Kilburn, London, while her mother retrained as a psychiatrist. Kosovo later declared independence from Serbia in February 2008, making it the youngest country in Europe and second-youngest in the world.

Rita appeared to be having the best time in the water

Speaking to The Times about her upbringing as a refugee, Rita reflected on her identity as an immigrant. "All I know is I'm always grateful for the education I received and proud of being an immigrant," she said.

"I think a lot of immigrants have a special energy: maybe a touch of imposter syndrome that makes them ready to improve themselves," Rita added. "Even if they're not first generation, you look back at so many great artists, and there's an immigrant story in their family history."

Acting ambition and health journey

Looking ahead in her career, Rita expressed a desire to star in one of her husband's films. "Absolutely. I'm surprised it has taken this long! It all has to be about the script, the story and it just has to make sense but that is one of our dreams," she said.

Rita also opened up about preparing her body for menopause after freezing her eggs twice in her twenties. She recalled enjoying every second of her twenties as her career soared before turning 30 five years ago.

Noticing major physical shifts at age 30, she overhauled her fitness regime with weight training and adopted a mindset to treat her body like an athlete. "I don't want people to get confused with [my health journey] being about me being obsessed with my physical appearance, because I think sometimes that line gets very blurred. It's all to do with how I feel," she told Women's Health UK.

Rita began educating herself on menopause after watching her mother go through breast cancer treatment, which triggered early menopause. She also learned about the topic from Davina McCall while working together on The Masked Singer.

Having frozen her eggs at ages 24 and 27 on medical advice, Rita feels secure about her fertility as a stepmother to Waititi's daughters. "[Back then] a doctor told me it was a really good time to preserve the best quality [eggs]," she said, calling it the best advice as she enters her mid-thirties.

Rita added that McCall continues to encourage her, saying, "Davina is always like, 'Hurry up - you can do it!'"
