Rock in Rio 2026 will have only one show broadcast live on Brazilian free-to-air television, with the rest of the festival's lineup shown on pay-TV channels and the Globoplay streaming service, according to CNN Brasil.
TV Globo, Brazil's largest broadcaster, will air live the performance by British singer Elton John on Monday, September 7, a public holiday, which is scheduled to begin at 11:45 p.m.
Rock in Rio is one of the world's largest music festivals, first held in Rio de Janeiro in 1985 and staged at a dedicated venue known as Cidade do Rock. Elton John is a veteran British singer-songwriter with a career spanning decades.
Beyond the Elton John broadcast, Globo said it would show flashes of the festival throughout its regular programming, along with a daily segment featuring the event's best moments.
Those highlight segments are scheduled for Friday, September 4 and 11, after the program Globo Reporter; Saturday, September 5 and 12, after Altas Horas; Sunday, September 6 and 13, after Boletim Estrelas da Casa; and Monday, September 7, after Jornal da Globo.
Shows concentrated on Multishow and Bis
Most of the festival's live programming will run on pay television and on Globoplay, Globo's streaming platform. On Multishow, coverage starts at 3:15 p.m. with performances from the Palco Mundo and Sunset stages.
On channel Bis, broadcasts begin at 3:50 p.m., covering shows from the Espaco Favela, New Dance Order and Supernova stages.
On Globoplay, non-subscribers will be able to watch free coverage that alternates between the Multishow and Bis signals every 30 minutes. Subscribers will have the option of an additional 4K broadcast.
