Rod Stewart has cancelled his August 9 concert at the Riverbend Music Center in Cincinnati after undergoing what organizers called an "unforeseen but minor medical procedure that required prompt attention."
The venue said in a statement that Stewart's performance had been postponed, with rescheduling underway and more details expected on Tuesday. All previously purchased tickets will be honored for the new date. The statement added that Stewart "is expected to make a quick recovery and looks forward to returning to Cincinnati." The Daily Mail said it had contacted representatives for Stewart for comment and had not yet heard back.
A pattern of cancellations
The 81-year-old Scottish rocker has cancelled several shows this year due to health setbacks. In June, he pulled out of a concert in California, citing a respiratory infection that had turned into laryngitis. A week later, he paused a show in Utah and used an oxygen tank on stage, which he suggested could have been related to the altitude. He also postponed shows at Red Rocks Park and Amphitheatre in Morrison, Colorado, citing vocal rest.
World Cup controversy
Stewart also addressed backlash after he was pictured cheering on Scotland's Tartan Army during their opening World Cup match against Haiti in Boston, less than 24 hours after cancelling his California show due to illness.
Speaking to Jim White on talkSPORT, Stewart said: "No, I got an awful... I really shouldn't have gone to the Haiti game. You know, I had to cancel a show the night before because I just had no voice left."
He added: "But the truth is, Jim, I wasn't going to let my two sons down. I promised them since they were born that we were going to go to a World Cup. And this is the first one that's come about. And it wasn't a good look, I admit, but I'm going to have to just take the stick. So I did it for the boys."
Farewell tour continues
Stewart is currently on the North American leg of his farewell tour, One Last Time, which he launched in 2024. "I've got 40-odd shows this year and that's not really a lot," he said. "And I'm touring the UK next year and doing the O2 and that will probably be it, I think."
