British singer Rod Stewart has cancelled four weeks of his farewell tour and Las Vegas residency after undergoing a routine coronary stent procedure.
A representative for the 81-year-old performer confirmed that doctors were satisfied with his recovery following the cardiac operation. Stewart has resumed normal daily activities but requires rest before returning to live performances.
The announcement follows a last-minute postponement of his scheduled concert at the Riverbend Music Center in Cincinnati, where the singer cited a minor medical procedure, according to entertainment publication Variety.
In a statement reported by Variety, Stewart said he was already feeling better and recovering very well. He expressed his gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and medical staff who cared for him, adding that he was deeply sorry to miss the concerts and regretted disappointing his fans. He said he hoped to return to the stage soon to perform again.
Recent Health Concerns on Tour
The cancellations follow earlier health concerns during Stewart's ongoing concert dates. In early June, the singer cancelled two performances in Las Vegas before they began, acting on advice from his doctor, Variety reported.
Later that month, Stewart cancelled another concert in San Diego immediately before he was scheduled to take the stage. During a subsequent performance in Utah, the singer was forced to pause midway through the show to use an oxygen tank.
A coronary stent is a small mesh tube inserted into a heart artery to clear blockages and ensure proper blood flow. The minimally invasive procedure is routinely used to treat narrowed blood vessels and reduce the risk of further cardiac complications.
Residency and Farewell Tour Schedule
Stewart has been on the road since 2024 for his One Last Time farewell tour, performing alongside American singer Richard Marx. Marx, known for classic hit ballads such as Right Here Waiting, has accompanied Stewart as a special guest across major arena dates.
The current four-week pause directly impacts Stewart's return to Las Vegas, which had been scheduled to start on August 18. He was set to perform a series of concerts titled The Encore Shows at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace through the end of the month.
Following the Las Vegas residency, Stewart was scheduled to resume his tour with upcoming concert dates in Minnesota and Illinois, before heading to Mexico. Organisers have not announced rescheduled dates for the postponed performances.
