Saturday Night Live tapes at Studio 8H in the Rockefeller Center in New York, a stage reserved for artists considered to be setting the pace of the music industry. Rosalía's return is being read as confirmation of her standing in the competitive U.S. market, beyond just another date on her packed schedule.

A season of debuts and contrasts

NBC has unveiled a varied lineup for the first four episodes of the show's 52nd season. The season will open on September 26 with New York Knicks star point guard and reigning NBA Finals MVP Jalen Brunson as host, alongside musical guest KATSEYE.

The K-pop girl group will make its debut performance on the show, a moment expected to draw heavy attention as the band performs live under the scrutiny of American television.

The season continues on October 3 with actress Dakota Johnson hosting alongside musical guest Turnstile, before Rosalía's appearance on October 10 with Shane Gillis. The run of premiere episodes closes on October 31, when Inde Navarrette hosts with singer-songwriter Gracie Abrams as musical guest.

The lineup reflects the range of trends currently shaping the pop music market.

A highly anticipated comeback

For audiences in Spain and Rosalía's millions of fans worldwide, attention is centered on her upcoming appearance. Her first performance on Saturday Night Live, four years ago, left a lasting impression on viewers and showed that her avant-garde artistic approach translates well to the demanding live American format.

It remains unclear what songs she will perform, or whether she will use the appearance to launch a new musical era.

Saturday Night Live has aired on NBC since 1975 and is known for combining live sketch comedy with a weekly musical guest slot, a format that has made it one of the most closely watched stages in American entertainment for both comedians and musicians building their profile in the United States.
