Selena Gomez is back singing in Spanish. The new single “Te Olvido (La La),” featuring Becky G and produced by Benny Blanco, is now out, marking Gomez’s return to Spanish-language music after a long absence.
The music video has drawn particular attention from fans. Rather than elaborate choreography or multiple set pieces, it shows Gomez and Becky G dancing in the street with a crowd of people around them. Fans have noted how happy and stylish Gomez looks throughout, especially given her ongoing battle with lupus.
How the Collaboration Came Together
Benny Blanco, who is also Gomez’s husband, told the outlet Caras Mexico how Becky G ended up on the track. He said she walked in, heard what he was working on, and told him it sounded incredible and asked what it was. He asked if she wanted to be part of it, she agreed, and that was how it happened.
Blanco also said he felt fortunate to share the project with his wife. He described her as an incredible and deeply talented person, adding that she has an immense love for Latin music given her Mexican heritage, and that he felt blessed and honored she wanted to collaborate with him.
Gomez’s Musical Journey
Gomez began her entertainment career on the Disney series “Wizards of Waverly Place” and voiced the show’s theme song. In 2009 she formed the pop rock and electro pop group Selena Gomez and The Scene, releasing three studio albums: “Kiss and Tell,” “A Year Without Rain,” and “When the Sun Goes Down.”
She went solo in 2013 with “Stars Dance,” which debuted at number one on the Billboard 200. After signing with Interscope Records, she released “Revival” in 2015, exploring R&B, minimalist pop, and electro pop sounds, with standout tracks including “Good For You,” “Same Old Love,” and “Hands To Myself.”
