Heavy metal band Slipknot has announced that they are no longer associated with turntablist Sid Wilson after 28 years with the group. The musician joined the band in 1998 and will no longer be a part of the group, his bandmates confirmed.
The band shared a statement on Aug. 14 to the official Instagram account for their music festival, Knotfest. "Effective immediately, Slipknot will no longer be associated with Sid Wilson," the band wrote. "We wish him the best in his future endeavors."
In the caption, the band added, "Slipknot have parted ways with Sid Wilson. The announcement could briefly be found on the band’s website." E! News reached out to a representative for Wilson but has not yet heard back. Wilson has not publicly commented on his exit.
The announcement comes weeks after reports surfaced alleging that the DJ was fired from the band, which also includes percussionist Shawn "Clown" Crahan, singer Corey Taylor, and guitarists Mick Thomson and James Root. Root appeared to address the chatter on Instagram Stories on July 31. "Don’t believe everything you read," Root wrote. "Stop. Think. Take a breath. Sit with it for awhile. Maybe. Just maybe even wait until there’s more information."
Relationship with Kelly Osbourne
A pivot in his profession is not the only life change Wilson has been navigating recently. He and his ex Kelly Osbourne, with whom he shares 3-year-old son Sidney, recently called it quits after getting engaged in July 2025.
Amid hearsay that Wilson would be taking his leave from the band, Osbourne shared a scathing message telling her former fiancé to "Wake the f--k up." On Aug. 3, the Fashion Police alum posted a series of Instagram Stories addressing the situation without specifying her allegations further. "Strange how the loudest defense of the guilty is rarely innocence… It’s distraction," Osbourne wrote. "When the mask slips, they don’t face the mirror they throw it at someone else. I also heard that when you break a mirror you get 7 years of bad luck! Or is that just karma? This is why I always take accountability!"
Personal changes and focus on family
Calling out 49-year-old Wilson to "take some responsibility" for undisclosed issues, the 41-year-old continued, "I will not take your s--t anymore! I’m done." Osbourne, whose father Ozzy Osbourne died in 2025, shared that she is focusing on herself in her new chapter.
"I want to be happy and I have a beautiful son to raise," Osbourne wrote. "Leave me alone. Let me heal. I can’t protect you from yourself anymore."
