Apple TV has released the official trailer for the sixth season of Slow Horses, revealing that Gary Oldman will return as Jackson Lamb on September 16.
The new six-episode season will premiere globally on Wednesday, September 16, with new episodes dropping weekly until the season finale on October 21.
The television adaptation is based on the Slough House book series written by British novelist Mick Herron, which began with the publication of the first novel in 2010. The books follow sidelined intelligence officers banished to a rundown office building near London's Barbican, away from MI5 headquarters at Regent's Park.
Season six adapts two novels from Herron's spy series, combining the story lines of Joe Country and Slough House, the sixth and seventh books in the literary saga. The narrative finds the disgraced MI5 operatives known as the Slow Horses on the run, forced into full flight as they try to survive a dangerous situation in London.
In the upcoming narrative arc, senior intelligence officer Diana Taverner drags the team into a perilous game of retaliation and revenge. Producers confirmed the new season will maintain the signature combination of espionage, tension and dark humor that has defined the television series since its launch.
Season 6 plot and cast returns
Gary Oldman reprises his role as Jackson Lamb, the brilliant but irascible head of Slough House. In the fictional world of British intelligence created by Herron, Slough House serves as the administrative dumping ground for MI5 agents who have committed career-ending blunders but cannot be directly fired from the service.
Oldman's portrayal of Lamb, a cynical and unwashed espionage veteran who remains fiercely protective of his team, has earned critical acclaim throughout the show's run. Kristin Scott Thomas co-stars as Diana Taverner, the ambitious Second Desk at MI5 who frequently uses the Slough House agents as disposable assets in internal power struggles.
The main cast features an extensive return of series regulars, including Kristin Scott Thomas, Jack Lowden, Saskia Reeves, Christopher Chung, Aimee-Ffion Edwards, Rosalind Eleazar, Joanna Scanlan, Samuel West, Ruth Bradley, Tom Brooke, Jonathan Pryce and Hugo Weaving.
The sixth season also introduces actor Lenny Rush to the ensemble. In addition, Olivia Cooke will reprise her role as Sidonie "Sid" Baker, marking the return of her character after previously appearing in earlier seasons of the show.
Cooke originally appeared in the first season as Sidonie "Sid" Baker, a highly skilled operative assigned to Slough House under mysterious circumstances. Her return in season six resolves a long-running story thread for fans of the show.
