The Marvel film Spider-Man: Brand New Day will open in Russian cinemas on August 20, roughly two weeks after its release in CIS countries. Some cinema chains will not screen the film until Saturday, August 22.
The film had its world premiere on July 31 but did not open in Russia at that time due to Disney’s exit from the Russian market.
The delay may be connected to a request from AVK to postpone the Spider-Man release to avoid competing with the Russian fairy-tale film The Last Bogatyr: Kolobok, which opens on August 6 and is set to remain the country’s top release for two weeks.
The film picks up four years after No Way Home, with Peter Parker continuing to protect New York while those close to him have forgotten he exists. Tom Holland and Zendaya reprise their roles, joined by Mark Ruffalo as the Hulk, Jon Bernthal as the Punisher, and Sadie Sink of Stranger Things in an undisclosed role.
