Amazon MGM Studios and Sony Pictures Television are developing a new Spider-Man television series based on Marvel Comics' Clone Saga storyline for streaming platform Prime Video.
The project is being written by Kelvin Yu, an American writer and producer of Chinese descent. The live-action series is set to center on comic book characters Ben Reilly and Kaine Parker, though the project has not yet received an official series order from the studio.
The development was first reported by entertainment news outlet Deadline. Both Amazon MGM Studios and Sony Pictures Television declined to comment on the project, and production details remain limited as the series moves through advanced development.
Production team and studio deal
Producers Amy Pascal, Phil Lord, and Christopher Miller are attached to executive produce the series alongside Yu. The executive team currently oversees Sony Pictures Television's slate of projects set within Sony's Universe of Marvel Characters.
Pascal is a veteran film executive who has produced multiple Spider-Man feature films for Sony Pictures. Lord and Miller are the filmmaking duo behind the Oscar-winning animated film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. Yu is an Emmy-winning television writer and producer known for his work on animated and comedy series.
The project is being developed under a multi-year deal between Amazon MGM Studios and Sony Pictures Television. Sony Pictures has held the screen rights to Spider-Man and associated comic book characters since acquiring them from Marvel in 1999.
The new Clone Saga development follows Prime Video's decision to cancel Spider-Noir, a live-action series starring Academy Award-winning actor Nicolas Cage. Prime Video chose not to renew Spider-Noir after its first season, shifting focus to other television projects within the Sony Marvel franchise.

In Marvel Comics lore, Ben Reilly is a clone of Peter Parker who eventually establishes his own heroic identity as the Scarlet Spider. Kaine Parker is introduced as the initial clone created from Peter Parker, suffering from severe physical imperfections resulting from flaws in the cloning process.
