The film Spider-Man: New Day was leaked online on the morning of July 31, the same day it premiered in theaters worldwide, according to Variety.
A high-quality copy was posted on the social platform X by a user going by Fredrick Bryan. Other accounts then spread the video further. The original post reached 5.9 million views and more than 140,000 likes before it was removed from the platform the same day.
Similar leak hit Nolan's 'Odyssey'
A similar incident happened with another major summer release, Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey, which was also leaked on X, gathering 2.1 million views before being taken down.
Spider-Man: New Day continues Peter Parker's story four years after the events of No Way Home, as he keeps protecting New York from crime while his loved ones have forgotten he exists. Tom Holland, Zendaya and Jacob Batalon return in the lead roles, with the Hulk and the Punisher also appearing alongside an unnamed character played by Stranger Things star Sadie Sink.
