"Spider-Man: New Day" premiered worldwide on July 31, 2026, and pulled in between $167 million and $173 million at the US box office on its first day, according to Deadline.
The haul makes it the highest-grossing opening day in US history, surpassing "Avengers: Endgame," which had held the record with a $157.4 million debut. Industry estimates now suggest the film could earn up to $500 million over its opening weekend, which would make it the best debut of 2026.
Plot and cast
The film continues the story of Peter Parker four years after the events of "No Way Home," as he keeps protecting New York from crime while the people close to him have no memory of him. Tom Holland, Zendea and Jacob Batalon return in the lead roles, joined by the Hulk and the Punisher, along with an unnamed character played by "Stranger Things" star Sadie Sink.
The film has been well received by both audiences and critics, holding a 90% score from critics and 98% from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes.
