Supergirl will arrive on digital platforms via Prime Video on Tuesday, August 11, available for pre-order at 16.99 euros. The film is releasing digitally just a month and a half after its theatrical debut on June 26.

The early home release comes after the movie became one of the largest box office disappointments of the decade for Warner Bros. and DC Studios. Despite its commercial struggles, the film offers an entertaining experience for viewers.
Digital pricing and movie bundles
Pre-orders on Prime Video cost 16.99 euros regardless of whether customers choose SD, HD, or UHD resolution. Additional digital storefronts may also add the film to their catalogs later.
Prime Video is also offering a promotional pack containing both Superman and Supergirl for 19.99 euros. The bundle provides a discount compared to the 20.98 euros total cost of purchasing both films separately once the promotion ends.
Cast, director, and plot details
Directed by Craig Gillespie, Supergirl stars Milly Alcock in the title role of Kara Zor-El. The story loosely adapts elements from Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow as Kara travels across the galaxy marked by loss, a quest for justice, and a meeting with a young girl who asks for help to avenge the death of her family.
Kara displays a much tougher character and a less optimistic worldview than her cousin Superman. The film translates her personality into a science fiction adventure with a tone that differs significantly from the movie starring David Corenswet.
DC cinematic universe and streaming options
DC Studios heads James Gunn and Peter Safran have released two films so far, yielding a neutral result overall. While Supergirl struggled in theaters, their 2025 Superman movie became the highest-grossing solo Man of Steel film in the United States, surpassing previous entries by Zach Snyder.
Viewers can currently rent or buy Superman on Prime Video for 3.99 euros. HBO Max subscribers can stream Superman at no extra cost, and Supergirl is expected to land on HBO Max after its digital window ends.
