Baltierra family Halloween costumes and celebrations

Sunday's tribute followed a series of photographs that Baltierra shared on Instagram on Saturday from the family's Halloween celebration, showing the couple posing alongside their children. Baltierra dressed up as the DC Comics superhero character Nightwing for the occasion and wrote in the caption, "HAPPY HALLOWEEN from The Baltierras!"

Each of the couple's three youngest daughters wore a themed outfit in the family photographs. Four-year-old Rya followed her mother's lead by dressing up as a witch, 11-year-old Novalee wore a Stick Man costume, and seven-year-old Vaeda dressed as Pennywise, the villainous clown from the horror story It.

Baltierra and Lowell also welcomed an older daughter, 17-year-old Carly, whom they placed up for adoption. The couple celebrated their 11-year wedding anniversary on August 22.

The pair first became known to television audiences through the MTV reality series 16 and Pregnant and its spin-off Teen Mom OG. Broadcast on the American cable television network MTV, the long-running franchise documents young parents as they navigate relationships, family life and raising children on camera. Mount Clemens, Baltierra's hometown, is a Michigan city located northeast of Detroit.

Catelynn Lowell on Teen Mom OG weight remarks and body-shaming

Health and physical transformations have long been a public subject for both cast members. Over the years, Baltierra has regularly posted photographs to his own social media pages documenting his personal fitness routine and weight-loss regimen.

Lowell previously spoke out against body-shaming during an appearance on the Virtual Reali-Tea podcast in 2023. During that interview, she defended her husband over a widely discussed remark he made during an episode of Teen Mom OG in 2016, saying the comment had been taken "so out of context."

In the 2016 television episode, Lowell said she had been debating whether to sign up for a weight-loss plan. Baltierra responded to her by saying, "It's your body, you can do what you want. I mean, obviously, I don't want no heifer for a wife."

Addressing the exchange on the podcast in 2023, Lowell made clear that she does not tolerate mistreatment in her marriage. She said that if she "was ever being body-shamed or called out of my name in front of my kids" by a partner, she "would be gone" from the relationship.

"I don't want my children to think that that's okay to be treated like that," Lowell added on the podcast.
