The Boston Strangler: This strict ban imposed on Keira Knightley on set

The Boston Strangler : a series of grisly murders

In the early 1960s, several murders were committed in Boston. The modus operandi is always the same: a man manages to enter without breaking into the quarters of his victims, who are all women. He rapes them, strangles them and ties nylon stockings around their necks.

Shortly thereafter, investigative reporter Jean Cole (Carrie Coon) arrives to help out.

For many months they struggle to find concrete elements to prove the guilt of a single man, like the policeman Conley (Alessandro Nivola) with whom they exchange regularly. Suspects include Albert DeSalvo (David Dastmalchian), a repairman who takes advantage of his job to break into women’s homes.

This is not the first feature film to focus on this terrifying story. In 1965, director Burt Topper was inspired by it The Boston Killer, while the murders are still unsolved. Three years later, the great Richard Fleischer (Green Sun, Cops don’t sleep at night) sign The Boston Stranglerin which Tony Curtis lends his features to Albert DeSalvo.

In 2013, a DNA analysis proves the latter’s guilt in one of the thirteen murders committed. This new feature film tackles the case from a new angle since he is interested in the work carried out with determination by the two journalists of the American record. Loretta McLaughlin and Jean Cole gradually discovered that in addition to Albert DeSalvo, there may be other culprits.

Strict ban for Keira Knightley and Carrie Coon

Matt Ruskin’s film (Crown heights) transcribes their investigation in a fascinating way, managing to convey to the viewer the doubts and frustration felt by the two characters.
