Barbie Ferreira played Kat Hernandez in the first two seasons of Euphoria
interpreter of Kat Hernandez in the first two seasons of euphoriaseries created by Sam Levinson and starring zendaya, barbie ferreira left the cast of the series HBO in the third year, and now revealed the reason for this important career decision.
It is worth remembering how rumors emerged that the Brazilian-American actress would have fought with Levinson during the filming of the second phase of production – and that would explain why the character is sidelined from the sequel’s narrative.

During participation in Armchair Expert with Dax Shepherd (via vanity fair), Ferreira talked about the feelings he had about the Katand how she would have almost no development for future episodes of euphoriawhich made her quite upset.
“I don’t think there was a place for her to go. I think there were places she could have gone. I just don’t think it would have fit on the show,” said the artist. “I don’t know if that would do her justice, and I think both parties knew that I really wanted to be able to not be the fat best friend. I don’t want to play that, and I don’t think they wanted that either.
In the program, barbie ferreira even revealed how she and Sam Levinson reached a “mutual decision” to end her participation in the series. Furthermore, she spoke about the “struggle” to find a worthy narrative for Kat in the second season, while there was speculation of conflict between the two and the reduction of the role.
According to the actress, the process of watching the second season was “really very painful,” especially when “seeing the fans get upset” with the disappearance of Kat. “I just felt like maybe it’s like I overstayed my welcome a little?”
So for me, it really felt good to think, ‘Fine, I don’t worry about it, and we’re both not too worried about it,’ because it’s exhausting.
“Sam writes, like, things that he can relate to. I don’t think he can relate to Kat. I like Kat, so I can go my own way,” continued Ferreira. “At first, I thought, ‘Oh my God, I’m a failure. I’m a loser.’ It’s really been a good thing.”
Barbie Ferreira has already spoken about the rumors of the fight and leaving the set of the second season of Euphoria
In an interview with The Daily Beast in February 2023, she responded to rumors of leaving the set and also of an alleged injury on filming the disgusting bathtub scene with Sydney Sweeney: “When people ask me about season two, they usually come up to me like I’m some kind of victim of season two.”
And I’m always like, ‘No, it’s okay, I promise.’ I actually didn’t leave the set. I sprained my ankle once and had to get an X-ray. Maybe that’s what they mean?
What did HBO say about the controversy?
In a statement sent to The Hollywood Reporter, HBO denied how the production of euphoria was toxic, and the footage “was in full compliance with all safety guidelines and union protocols” and how “there was never any formal investigation raised.”
