Nicolas Cage returns as Yuri Orlov
In 2006, Nicolas Cage lent his features to Yuri Orlov in WarlordAndrew Niccol’s third feature (Welcome to Gattaca, S1m0ne). This arms dealer born in Soviet Ukraine and raised in the United States started his business in the Little Odessa neighborhood of Brooklyn. Ignoring every moral aspect of his profession, Yuri travels to the four corners of the world to sell his possessions and finds herself with Interpol agent Jack Valentine (Ethan Hawke) on her heels.
Following his memorable performance in the film, Nicolas Cage will reprise his role in a sequel titled Warlords. According to the information of variety, Andrew Niccol returned to write and direct. In this sequel, Yuri Orlov will see her illegitimate son Antonplayed by Bill Skarsgård (That, John Wick: Chapter 4), tries to surpass him in his professional environment and shows even more cruelty. The two men are supposed to meet again in opposition to a conflict in the Middle East.
Andrew Niccol said of this project:
There’s so much to explore with these characters. Plato said it best: “Only the dead have seen the end of war.” I can’t wait to spend more time in the company of the handsome devil that is Yuri Orlov and now his illegitimate son, who turns out to be in no way legitimate.”
Filming of Warlords expected to start in the fall of 2023. No release date has been mentioned yet.
