Harry Potter: 1st edition of The Philosopher’s Stone will be auctioned for more than R$ 1 million

Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone has typos and JK Rowling’s autograph

A rare copy of the first edition of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stonewill be auctioned in London, England, for a value from 200 thousand pounds (about R$ 1.1 million). According to G1the publication even has some errors and an autograph of the author J.K. Rowling.

The work is part of a run of 500 hardcover copies that were printed in 1997. Of these copies, 300 were sent to libraries while the book auctioned by Christie’s is among the other existing units.

“Some things seem to have gone wrong in the making of the books,” he explained. Mark Wiltshirespecialist in printed books and co-curator of the exhibition The Art of Literaturefrom Christie’s, in an interview with Reuters (via G1).

“On the back cover, for example, philosopher, which is a keyword… it’s misspelled ‘philosopher,’ the second ‘o’ is missing. Also on page 53, in the list of items students are invited to take to Hogwarts with them, ‘a wand’ is repeated twice,” he said. “In many ways, this book is the physical manifestation of a magical memory for so many. people, and that’s what makes it so desirable.”
