Four decades after the return of democracy in 1983, this Saturday in the Plaza de Mayo there was a real party which served to recall the different historical, social and cultural events that occurred during those years.

Organized by the city government, through the Ministry of Culture, the event “BA celebrates 40 years of democracy” it brought together thousands of people and hundreds of personalities from the cultural and artistic field in a show ranging from freestyle competitions to literary talks, with a spectacular closing by the hand of a show that surprised by its magnitude.

Activities on the diagonals

Before the central show, located on Avenida de Mayo, Avenida Roque Saenz Peña (Diagonal Norte) and Avenida Julio Argentino Roca (Diagonal Sur), between Bolívar and Maipú, there was everything.

Recreational and educational spaces for children and young people; a Cultural Pass stage with live DJ, dance floors with themes that spanned the 4 decades of democracy and the Polenta party; a patriotic make-up booth; stages with itinerant artists representative of all Argentina; live music; a student forum; serigraphs; workshops for children and food trucks.

One of the highlights was the lounges with lectures by cultural entertainers. Highlight of the day: the multimedia show

The central show started around six o’clock in the evening and as soon as it was deployed it looked spectacular. Directed by Ricky Pashkus, icon of musical theater, and Pichón Baldinu, reference and pioneer of aerial theaterthe show included audiovisual projections, aerial and urban dances, folklore, music, humor, theater and the presence of great artists all time.

This high-impact proposal immersed all viewers in a recollection of history experienced decade by decade. In total, there were more than 100 artists on stage40 aerial dancers, a live orchestra of 25 musicians and was attended by great cultural references such as: Hilda Lizarazu, Mario Pergolini, Gladys “La Bomba Tucumana”, Moria Casán, Poncho, Fer Dente, José María Muscari, Flor Vigna and Mariana Genesio Pena.
