Zack Snyder started collaborating with Netflix with The army of the dead (2021), thus putting superheroes aside. A more modest film when compared to the director’s DC productions. But the latter obviously lost nothing his excessive ambition. This is what we notice first in front the trailer of rebel moon (video in an article) unveiled by Netflix.
More than three minute video to show the grand universe that Zack Snyder has been imagining for 20 years. The director wanted to tella story of David versus Goliath“, and of course he made itan explosive space opera.

We find out in the trailer Kora (Sofia Boutella)“a child of warwhich of course she has lost a lot in the past. She and other warriors will have to face the Mother of the World to end the wars and in tyrannical power. Clearly, the trailer doesn’t try to provide many script elements, instead relying mostly on visuals to describe the universe rebel moon.
In this Zack Snyder impresses. He gives the impression of having mixed Star Wars, Dunes and other elements of mythology while reproducing the recognizable style on certain levels (think of the lively 300). And another proof of the director’s ambition, rebel moon was built in two parts. The first, son of fireexit December 22 on Netflix. The second one, The Cutterit is announced for April 2024.
Finally, in the casting, we find in addition to Sofia Boutella, Charlie Hunnam, Djimon Hounsou, Bae DoonaJena Malone, Ed Skrein or even Anthony Hopkins in the voiceover.
