Rebel Moon: Zack Snyder’s film is not unanimous
Zack Snyder has always divided viewers. If some completely adhere to his universe and his hyper-stylized aesthetic, others remain isolated from his style and his approach to directing. His last film, Rebel moonwhose first part arrived on Netflix a week ago, is no exception to the rule, and profoundly divides viewers. After catastrophic revisions (as evidenced by its result on Rotten tomatoes), audiences weren’t as harsh and some were completely taken with this style of space opera Star Wars.

Rebel Moon: this is the detail that amuses Game of Thrones fans
As a reminder, part one of Rebel Moon called Son of fire sends us to a peaceful planet, where farmers live. It is in this idyllic place that Kora (Sofia Boutella), a former soldier of a tyrannical empire, has found his balance and lives happy days. But his happiness is short-lived when the army of the empire arrives on the planet and threatens to destroy everything. He then sets out to find rebels on nearby planets to defend himself from the forces of a tyrannical general.
Already dethroned by a 2021 film
Rebel Moon was supposed to be the big cinematic event this year on Netflix. But praised by Anglo-Saxon critics, the first data are not good for Zack Snyder’s film. In fact, it only has 54 million hours viewed for its first week. To confront, The world after us, amassed nearly 100 million hours viewed in its first week. In France it is even worse: the film has already lost first place in the top 10 of the most watched films on the platform, and was dethroned by Monster Hunterby Paul WS Anderson, released in 2021 with Milla Jovovich.
A bad sign for Zack Snyder’s film, the second part of which will arrive next April.
